F.A.Q
Windward Stride is a textured figurative painting: a figure caught mid-step against a flat cobalt-blue ground, coat and hair dissolving into windblown ridges of pink and white impasto, a mustard-yellow bag swinging at her side as she moves forward. The knife work is loosest exactly where the wind is strongest, so the motion feels built into the paint itself, not just illustrated by it.
The mood is forward-moving and quietly determined — not frantic, but purposeful, like someone walking somewhere they’ve already decided to go and won’t be talked out of. The flat blue ground gives the figure room to breathe and nowhere to hide, so the energy stays with her rather than scattering.
It suits spaces that could use momentum: an entryway that welcomes you into motion each time you leave or return, a home office for the days motivation runs thin, or a hallway connecting one part of the day to the next. Its solid blue ground places easily against most wall colours without a clash.
A figure walking into the wind is often read as a symbol of quiet courage — moving forward not because it’s easy, but because you’ve decided to anyway. For anyone mid-change or simply trying to keep walking on harder days, this one asks you to keep going, one step at a time.
