Textured Wall Art
Original textured wall art, built up by hand in real relief on canvas — never printed. Free insured shipping Australia-wide and 30-day free returns.
Textured wall art is art you can read with your eyes closed. Every piece in this collection is built up by hand in real relief on canvas — ridges, troughs, plaster-thick passages and dragged brushwork that catch the light and throw their own shadows. Nothing here is printed, and nothing is embossed to imitate texture. The surface is genuinely raised, because it was genuinely applied by hand.
Browse 247 original textured canvases in neutrals, deep tones and soft naturals. Each is painted to order, photographed for your approval before it leaves the studio, and shipped free and fully insured Australia-wide, with 30 days to return it if it isn’t right in your space.

What makes wall art genuinely textured
There are three ways a canvas can look textured, and only one of them is real. A printed canvas can reproduce a photograph of texture. An embossed print can press a pattern into the surface. A hand-built painting has actual depth — medium applied in layers, worked while wet, allowed to crack and settle as it cures. Ours are the third kind. Hold a raking light across one and the shadows move; do that to a print and nothing happens. It is also why the same artwork is never twice identical: the ridges fall where the hand put them that day.
Choosing texture for a room
Heavily textured work rewards side light. A piece on a wall perpendicular to a window will change through the day as the sun moves across the relief — mornings and late afternoons are when these paintings look best. Flat, even downlighting mutes them, so avoid centring one directly beneath a ceiling spot. Texture also does quiet work in rooms that are otherwise smooth: plaster walls, flat-panel joinery, large expanses of glass. It gives the eye something to land on without adding colour. For a sofa or bed wall, choose a canvas around two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it — see the large and oversized collection for pieces made at that scale.
Made to order, one of one
Your painting is created after you order it, by hand, and photographed for your approval before it ships. It arrives ready to hang and insured door to door. Neighbouring styles worth a look: wabi-sabi wall art for the quietest end of the texture spectrum, and abstract wall art for stronger composition.
Frequently asked questions
What is textured wall art?
Textured wall art has genuine physical relief on its surface — layers of medium applied by hand so the painting has depth you can feel, not a printed image of texture. The raised surface catches light and casts its own shadows, which is why it changes appearance through the day.
Is textured art printed or painted?
Every Monavo piece is painted by hand to order on canvas. We do not sell prints, reproductions or embossed prints, so no two paintings are identical.
How do I clean a textured painting?
Dust it gently with a dry, soft brush, working with the direction of the relief. Do not use water, cleaning sprays or a damp cloth, and do not press into the texture.
What size textured canvas should I choose?
For above a sofa or bed, aim for roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture — for a standard three-seater that is a canvas around 120 cm wide, or one large statement piece. Every available size is listed on the product page.
Will the texture survive shipping?
Each painting is fully cured before dispatch and shipped insured door to door. If it arrives damaged, returns are free within 30 days.
